ABOUT ME

I am an educator, researcher, and project organizer focused in the fields of digital media and the humanities.

Currently, I work as an Adjunct Professor and Lab Coordinator of the MediaLab in the Department of Media, Culture, and Communication (MCC) at New York University. Recently, I earned my M.A. from NYU’s Department of MCC with honors and a full scholarship under the Weber Shandwick Masters in Residence program.

My goal is to use my experience in media, technology, and project management in combination for my passion for digital media, education, and LGBTQ+ mental health advocacy.

 

When I am not working, I write and organize Dungeons & Dragons campaigns and Murder Mystery gatherings.

EXPERIENCE

Work History

ADJUNCT PROFESSOR AND MEDIALAB COORDINATOR

NEW YORK UNIVERSITY

August 2021 - Present

Work in NYU's Department of Media, Culture, and Communication to teach practice-based digital media courses to undergraduate students and oversee functions of the MCC MediaLab to improve NYU's digital media literacy.

MCC MediaLab responsibilities include:

  • Instructing and developing the syllabus for undergraduate practice-based digital media courses

  • Coordinating the logistics and operations of the MCC MediaLab's staff, projects, events, social media, and communications

  • Organizing approximately 100 workshops in web coding, Adobe software, and digital project implementation per year

  • Developing new initiatives to improve digital media literacy in New York University

  • Training undergraduate students as Lab Assistants to work in the MCC MediaLab

  • Implementing and overseeing the access protocols of the Equipment Rental Program and the MediaLab Computer Room

CO-PROJECT COORDINATOR

SUSTAINABLE SUBSEA NETWORKS

January 2021 - Present

I work as a member of this research team to work closely with the owners and operators of the internet's fiber-optic cable network to develop greener operations for global communication. Responsibilities include:

  • Creating and producing all digital media objects for the group, including websites, illustrations, infographics, and other materials

  • Manage project logistics to research the decarbonization of the global subsea cable network

  • Coordinate finances, grant proposals, communications, meetings, and research data

  • Assist with grant proposals, research, publications, and other public outputs

MENTOR OF MEDIA PROGRAMS

GEC ACADEMY

June 2020 - January 2023
Beijing, China

Assist with developing seven-week long media themed educational programs, including project design, lecture content, and workshops. Other responsibilities include:

  • Conducting weekly lab sessions to aid students with their coursework and assignments for their class, “Fashion, Style, and Power”, to help them analyze how fashion and style reveal patterns of power and culture

  • Reviewing students’ weekly assignments and give any additional support to the professor as necessary

Worked in the Technology and Digital departments for multiple projects. Responsibilities included: 


  • Researching and assessing external DEI initiatives and actions taken by clients, including Pernod-Ricard, Facebook, and Under Armour

  • Developing and assisting with digital content, websites, and applications for clients like Enel X, Olympus, the American Pecan Council, and Mars

  • Organizing diversity, equity, and inclusivity events for the New York OneWeber office

HEAD LAB ASSISTANT

NYU'S MCC MEDIALAB

August 2017 - May 2021

Acted as the lead student Lab Assistant of the the MCC MediaLab to improve NYU’s digital media literacy through implementing practice-based coursework into curriculums. Responsibilities included:

  • Collaborating with eight staff members to organize projects, social media, and communications between the MCC MediaLab and the greater university

  • Facilitating approximately 100 workshops in web coding, Adobe software, and digital project implementation every year

  • Assisting NYU professors to teach college courses on digital media, technology, and critical theory

  • Organizing Department-wide events, including book clubs, trivia nights, and digital media exhibitions

NEW YORK UNIVERSITY

As an NYU Weber Shandwick Master in Residence, I received my Master's degree under a full scholarship. My research focused on the intersection of LGBTQ+ youth, mental health, and digital technology. I completed my thesis, "Why the Telephone: LGBTQ+ Youth Suicide Prevention Technology in the United States," in April 2021 and was given the "Outstanding Service to the Department Award" during graduation.

VICTORY FUND: VOTE QUEER!

Worked on organizing and maintaining the live stream for a fundraiser run by the Victory Fund to promote electing LGBTQ+ officials to public office.

THE GR8 INDOORS VIRTUAL CONCERT

  • Coordinated fundraising a virtual concert that raised over $4,000 for COVID-19 relief efforts and the NYCLU with over 500 viewers

  • Act as technical director by building the website, facilitating the Zoom webinar and livestream, and assisting performers with AV quality
